《Postcards from Marfa》
이 프로젝트는 도널드 저드가 텍사스 마파에 세운 치나티 재단의 아티스트 레지던시 동 제안이다. 규칙적으로 배치된 건물들은 광활한 대지를 수치화하려는 시도이고 대지를 몸이 이해할 수 있는 스케일로 나누어주는 장치이다. 6개의 개인 작업실 건물의 외형은 저드가 차용하는 기하학적 형태들과 치나티 재단이 이용하고 있는 옛 군사 건물들의 타이폴로지를 빌려왔다.
Sungwoo Choi is an architect based in Seoul working on architectural design and real estate development projects. He is interested in the productive tension among form, capital, and community in building a sustainable city.
The project is a proposal for an artist residency at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, founded by Donald Judd.
The buildings are arranged in a regular pattern in an attempt to quantity the vastness of the landscape and break it down to a scale the body can understand. The mass of the six private studio buildings is based on Judd’s own geometric forms and the typology of the old military buildings used by the Chinati Foundation.
